Pat Lewkowitz ( English) & Virginia Heyse( History)

Terrific fun ladies. I was involved in Masque & Gavel & in several productions throughout my high school years. Pat Lewkowitz was in charge of M & G. I looked her up a couple of years ago & actually spoke with her. She is retired & lives in Florida.

Virginia Heyse was a wonderful kooky lady. She was my 2nd. division teacher, & we had a wonderful friendly relationship.

What teacher/s did you dislike and why?

Helen Bredehorn and Sheehy ( Math Teacher)

Helen Bredehorn was my 1st. Division teacher. I think she hated "guys", & was a real "bitch" and anti-semite. I had to go to summer school twice in order to skip ahead to get out of her division. She refused to let me switch out when I 1st. requested.

Miss. Sheehy was another story. She belonged in an "insane asylum" and NOT in a High School setting. A real Dr. Jekyl & Hyde personality.

What is your favorite memory or memories of AHS?

Masque & Gavel and performing in the High School Plays & Musicals. Had wonderful friends and really looked forward to going to Austin High every day..

Loved the "greasers" at the Green Grill. Hated the "nude" swimming gym sessions. Why the "no trunks rule, anyway?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHERYL!????????It’s hard to believe we are at this age, but it beats the alternative. I have wonderful memories of growing up in Austin, & all the terrific “ kids” I knew, & was friends with, even though some were both older & younger!

Hello Paula,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We were in the same Division Room, ( Bredehorn) if I remember correctly. I left the Division after going to summer school 2 times, to get out of Bredehorn.
She hated me or maybe all guys. Don’t know.
You were right about Sheehy, she was aslmit personality- Scary too ! I saw her throw a students books, etc. out a window while writing when she was talking!
Sorry to hear of the passing of your husband! Very sad to lose a “ soul mate “.
I remember having a crush on one of your ballerinas, back then Agita Strautnieks!
I was stupid, had the opportunity & always regretted it . She had it all personality, looks, & kindness. I wonder what ever happened to her.
Anyways, I remember you as being tall, blond, very smart, & very attractive!
