Your High School Story:

I have two vivid memories and experiences, one was playing Varsity Football and Baseball at Austin...getting to play at Soldier Field and Wrigley Field plus representing Chicago HS baseball downstate was a dream come true. Austin had such rich traditions in athletics, academics, the arts, etc. I was in 7th or 8th grade when I used to walk from Madison & Central all the way to Hanson stadium to watch the Varsity players compete against our Red Division rivals.
The second memory I had was, while working backstage in the 'mask and gavel', we took a trip to Lyons Twnship HS to compete in a competition. That is where I had an epiphany, that the world is a bigger and better place than I imagined, and so I set my goals higher for a better life. I am forever grateful to have grown up in the community and represent the Austin Tigers...Go Austin!!

Roz Goodman, Ms Del Moro...
(my only mode of transportation was a Schwinn and/or Big Green Limosine -Bus) so my dating was non existent..

Who was your favorite teacher/s and why?

Ms Mahoney-understanding and patience , Lussenhop - drafting skills, Coaches Heiland wisdom , Rio- toughness and reality check , and Coach Lucas - determination, leadership and conditioning , Ms Del Moro - History lessons and nice to look at. I'm sure I'm leaving out someone?

What teacher/s did you dislike and why?

not many...I will give them all credit to whatever small or large words of wisdom they did or tried to convey in their own way

Were you a member of any sports teams? If so, which one/s?

What is your favorite memory or memories of AHS?

I most fond memories are my Senior year where I had the good fortune of playing FB at Soldier Field; playing Baseball at Wrigley Field and representing the Public League Baseball in Peoria.
Winning 3 letters and just being part of a great tradition and legacy of Austin HS. All the great classmates and teamates. Discovering new horizons while working with the Theatre Group as back stage grunt...I cannot think of a better place to have grown up than the community of Austin and being small part of a great Austin HS legacy

What Elementary School did you attend?

Robert Emmet

Your Elementary School Story:

I arrived at Emmet in 1959...4th grade , transferred from Marshall Elementary.....couldn't pass a test in Ms Hess class, so they told my parents to keep in me in 4th grade to catch up to the standard of education that already was a blessing, as I caught up, matured and became the 'Mayor' of graduating class..(aka class Pres)
Head of Patrol Boys...spent all my free time in the playground with friends and getting coached up by 'the Coach' the late Don Biernat, who taught me so many lessons of being a man and doing the right thing, as I lost my father in 8th grade.

Rest I'm very saddened to hear of Dennis's Passing. We had some classes together and He supported Austin's Sports Teams vigorously. He was one of those Classmates that stood out as a
frienfly amicable person  Those traits carried over into his adult life. He left an endearing legacy of Kindness and Caring Soul
He will Forever Be Cherished by His Family and Friends

Rest In Peace Dennis

When I heard of Bill's passing from a Austin Classmate & Friend yesterday, I was Struck with a Stark Sadness as Bill was an Amiable Guy, Good Hearted , but, Most of all a Classmate and Fellow Austin Athlete. Bill had that Special Personality that was Endearing.
I Truly hope He Accomplished many , if not all , his Life's Goals. Many of us Don't, But, Bill's passing is another Reminder We Should be Thankful for What We Have Achieved , Just Keep Staying on Track to pursue The Best of what Life Offers Us Each Day.
RIP Bill. May God Bless You and Your Family. Thanks For The Memories ??

So Sorry to hear of Milo's passing. We were good friends at Austin.
I can picture us face and tone of Voice. A Good Soul. He had a family who loved him. That means something
I wish we we're connected in some way over  these many years.

Rest It's always difficult to hear about the passing of one our Austin Brothers or Sisters, especially a Fellow Austin Athlete, like Dominick   Dom and I were teammates on the Track Team and He was the kind of person teammate who was both a leader and mentor.
We all have great memories of our time at Austin and Knowing Dominick made it more special

My Sincere Condolences to Irene and Family    Rest In Peace Dom ??
