Oh Ed, just the other evening I was talking to the hubby about my days at AHS. He attended only one HS reunion. Of course I got to football. He played Frosh Soph. As we talked he said I know what’s coming next.....EGAD. He has only heard the story for 53 years. Blessings to you and your family.

Robert surprised me with many memories of my father. Dad was very involved in Scouting and the American Legion. After dad passed Robert blessed me with stories of Dad I would not have had but for Roberts willingness to share them with me, It was a beautiful gift and I will always be grateful. In your sorrow may you be comforted with the knowledge of how my life was touched and enriched ny this good man and his memories
I hate when the only post you get is HAPPY FREAKIN' BIRTHDAY !
Yes it sucks to have a birthday so close to Christmas. Sometimes it works to your advantage. People feel guilty or sorry for you so you get more stuff.
I remember you from May School. You were one of the guys who delivered milk to the girls side of the lunchroom in the basement ! I always got chocolate ! We had to sit on benches to eat our lunches. May had no cafeteria ! I graduated from May January 1961. Didn't get to Austin H.S. till Sept 1963. Graduated June 1964.
I have a Semper FI sticker on my car. I have a younger cousin who was a career Marine. He has a wife, 4 children (born 5 years apart.) and 1 grandson. A retired Marine asked why I had the sticker. since I had never served in the military. I understand that not just anyone can be a Marine. However, every American should be a patriot ! War IS Hell ! Thank you for your service.

Melody, Happy birthday. I guess I was so busy celebrating my own birthday I didn't know yours was so close. My 8th grade year @ May School was wonderful because of girls like you. A bunch of us from "The wrong side of the tracks" were transferred to May School I had been at Sumner School K-7the grade. Not everyone at May was happy about this transfer. There were a few Hispanics and some hillbillies. The PTA and some of the teachers made it very difficult for us students. The kids welcomed us with open arms. Well, the girls welcomed me for sure. I remember we had a gift exchange for Christmas in MIss DiMaggio's class. Manuel ??? GOt Barb Kaplan's name. He gave her a heart to wear around herneck with his name engraved on it. She received it politely but boy did we hear about it after school. I went to a Christmas party @ Manuel's house. Some guy, maybe Eric Grebinger had broken up with me. I remember his momma holding me as I cried. In her broken english she said Something like "Oh nina ( little one) you are so jung. There will be many boy friends in your life. This is sad for you but not the end of the world. She was right my heart has been broken many times. Not just by males but by my own children. Our son likes to say, "It will all work out in the end. And if it doesn't work out it's not the end ! " Thank you for being my friend in those wonderful silly giggly adolescent years. I am now crying cleansing nostalgic tears. I hate being in my 70's but I'm not done living yet.

Darlene What ever happened to your move west ? I just wanted to thank you again for this wonderful website. Some nights when I can't sleep. I get on the computer and take a walk down memory lane. Looking forward to the next reunion in 2020 !

Top O' the Mornin' to ya' Allan ! When you were a little boy did anyone tell you the Chicago River turned green just because it was your birthday ? The attached is our lovely daughter Gretchen. She turned 43 last October. She is 5' tall and weighs 100 pounds. The Yoga pose was her being silly. She is a college grad but last year, ago asked if I knew that Buddah was once a living human being. UH DUH YEAH ! I guess too much protestant indoctrination in her youth. She and her dad have absolutely NO sense of rhythm. THus she can't dance. Her brother played percussion in High School. He learned to read music. I joked that he had a solo in every concert. At the end of the Star Spangled Banner, the symbols always clanged. Oh, yeah hope your birthday was Jolly ! I'm guessing it is your 71st. Did you do summer school to graduate with the class of '64 ?
