In Memory

Kathryn Kennedy - Class Of 1965

Kathy Kennedy passed away on August 9, 2016 at her new southwest residence from the cancer that had spread throughout her body. She was one month shy of her 69th birthday. She died in peace under around the clock hospice care. She had just recently relocated to Tucson, Arizona but unfortunately, she was unable to enjoy her short time out there.

I spent 8 years with Kathy at Byford and 4 years with her at Austin. She was a nice person and a good friend who fell on some difficult times late in her life. She was able to get some help and to finally get herself relocated to Tucson, AZ, where she had previously lived, before having to return home to care for her sick father. She was happy to finally be going back to live in Arizona earlier this spring but unfortunately, she was not able to enjoy the few months she did spend out in the Southwest.

Kathy Kennedy lived in Austin longer than any AHS alum I know.  We were in the same homeroom.  She cared for her parents and taught communication at Triton and other area colleges.  I admired her commitment to her family and teaching.  She had an upbeat personality.  We will miss her.

So sorry to hear of Kathy's passing.  She was one of the most intelligent students in my class, and yet she always spoke to me like I was an equal.  I never thought I was, but sure enjoyed her friendship.  I regret never having reconnected with her since graduation.  Sigh.

Just so sad. I still see her smile and beautiful blonde hair. I am honored to have called her friend.
