Thomas joined the Navy after leaving AHS, and was killed during the Viet Nam war. My last memory of him was when I saw him on his way to deliver flowers to his mother and grandmother, before deploying to Viet Nam. He said that he always wanted to be a sailor, and was excited about being in the Navy.

Tom grew up on VanBuren st and I played sandlot ball with him on an empty lot on Congress Street.

he attended resurrection grammar school' I was on the USS Independence  (air craft carrier) and although I did not know he was in a naval air squandron aboard the air craft carrier USS Forestall.  There was a rocket missfire on flighht deck that ignited  some fueltanks on planes on the fantail. The result was a number of bombs exploded tha tore through flight deck in rear and killed many sailors  a total of 137. By a miracle the ship stayed afloat and made it back to Subic Bay in the Phillipines. The ship was home ported in Norfolk, Virginia. Senator John McCain barely escaped his plane on the flight deck which went up in flames. God rest Tom's so

Tom and I were supposed to enlist together on what was known as the buddy-plan. He was unfortunately delayed due to family issues and I went in a week or so earlier. We did see each other once or twice before he deployed to sea. I was devastated when I found out about his death. My oldest son, born on '69 is named after him. RIP Tom. I still miss you.
